YARD YOUNG ARTISTS: 16-21

Aged 16-21? Interested in theatre and performance?

Join The Yard and get ready to tear up everything you thought theatre could be. Yard Young Artists: 16-21 are our in-house group of brave and brilliant young creatives that meet weekly to learn from professional artists how to create theatre and perform it on stage.

Through this programme, you’ll explore acting, directing and storytelling. You’ll learn invaluable skills that every artist needs, such as how to create dynamic stories for the stage and how to use your body and voice to perform confidently in front of an audience. The programme will culminate in a theatre showcase performed on The Yard’s stage.

You’ll work with industry experts like The Yard’s Artistic Director and Deputy Artistic Director, Jay Miller and Anthony Simpson Pike, and you’ll also see loads of theatre across London — all for free!

Whether your background is in acting, dance, or writing —  or even if you’re beginning your journey  — this is your chance to develop as an artist, meet other young creatives and take the next step in your creative career.

Applications are now closed for this year.

"Hi! I’m Heavadny, a multi-disciplinary creative who is currently studying Popular Music at Goldsmiths University of London. I am a musician and performer at heart, but this has always been centred within the world of theatre which I’ve been able to learn more about in the past two years, since joining Yard Young Artists last year. The impact on my creative journey has been massive, because of the support I've received, through mentoring, shadowing opportunities, and wellbeing support, all of which have allowed me to grow as an artist. I am still working out my pathway, but with continuous support on the next steps, goals, and plans of action, I'm looking forward to seeing how my artist practice grows! I can’t wait to meet you."
